It is with a heavy heart that I inform you on the Passing of Joe Croteau today. After a long battle with cancer, Joe has left us. The only consolation is that he is no longer in pain. Calling hours and funeral services will be posted as I get them. Tight lines always my friend, we will miss you Joe!!!

This news does come with great sorrow. Joe Croteau, one of the founding members of RI B.A.S.S. Nation, formally RI B.A.S.S. Federation will be truly missed. Joe Croteau was a GREAT friend, angler and mentor to so many. He leaves behind a beautiful, most loving, caring and supportive family. Joseph W. Croteau
Joseph W. Croteau, 70, of Blackstone, MA passed away at home on Monday, June 16, 2014 with loving family by his side. He was the beloved husband of Irene (Cournoyer) Croteau, together for 45 years. Born in Woonsocket, RI on May 3, 1944, he was the son of the late Wilfred J. and Palma (Lemme) Croteau. He was the loving father of Brian Croteau and his wife, Janie of Blackstone, MA and leaves his cherished grandchildren, Kristen and Jonathan Croteau. He also leaves his son Joseph Croteau and his wife, Cindy of North Smithfield, RI, his daughters, Judy Lambert and her fiancé, John James of Cumberland, RI, Joy Benjamin and her husband, Russell of Burrillville, RI and 6 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. He also leaves 7 step-children and 6 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. He was the brother of Tony Lemme of So. Wellfleet, MA, Ronnie Lemme of Warwick, RI, Janet Carter of Brooklyn, CT, Joyce Besaw of Palm Coast, FL, Phyllis Croteau of Burrillville, RI, and the late Butch Hamlen, John Croteau, James Croteau and Lilly Hamlen.
A resident of Blackstone for 42 years formerly of Woonsocket where he was raised, Joseph worked as a line mechanic at Puritan Aerosol in Berkley, RI for several years.
He was a lifelong member and founder of Northern Rhode Island Bass Anglers since 1987, and was a qualifer of multiple Rhode Island State Teams National Competitor and Mr. Bass. Together with his son Brian, they fished from the beach at Race Point, Cape Cod from 1977-1984, then they both were commercial fishermen from 1994-2000.
Devoted to his family, he will be greatly missed.
Funeral will be held on Friday, June 20th at 9:00AM from CARTIER’S FUNERAL HOME, 151 So. Main St. (Rte 126), Bellingham, MA with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00AM at All Saints Church, 323 Rathbun St., Woonsocket, RI. Interment will follow at St. Charles’s Cemetery, Blackstone, MA. Visiting hours are on Thursday, June 19th from 5 to 8PM
